My first project after launching Altior was my last project before resigning from City service: supporting the Future of Workers Task Force, convened by Mayor Eric Adams in fall 2022. I worked with four fellow consultants to help staff Task Force meetings, including a number of committees, and develop the final report, released in late spring 2023. My favorite part is "A Short History of NYC Workforce Reform," an appendix toward the end of the report. It was a lot of fun to write, and inspiring as a reminder of how far New York City has come over the past two-plus decades in expanding and improving how it helps residents find work and advance toward career success. The Task Force set out a compelling roadmap for even more progress to come.
